Dielectric mirror / Anti-reflection coating
With a white light source the functionality of a dielectric mirror is demonstrated. An optical grating allows resolving the transmitted and reflected light spectrally. In the same way the working principle of an anti-reflection coated glass plate is presented.

Reflection law
The investigation starts by verifying the reflection law. The deflection of a laser beam reflected by a metal coated mirror is measured as a function of the incident beam angle. Additionally, the polarization dependence can be tested by an analyzer.

Fresnel Laws
The mirror is exchanged by a transparent half-disc and the incident beam is polarized. For a verification of the Fresnel Laws the intensity of the reflected and transmitted light and its state of polarization is important. Therefore a photo detector and a polarization analyzer are provided.
